Create your first portfolio account

Start an empty portfolio by creating the account where your first positions will be tracked.

Before you start

You only need a name for the account and a basic idea of where it belongs. You can create a category during setup if you do not have one yet or do not want to use the predefined categories.

Create the account

  1. Open Portfolio and choose Add account.
  2. Enter an account name that you will recognize later.
  3. Choose the account type that best matches what you will track there.
  4. Select a platform when one is available, or continue without one if the account is manual or not listed.
  5. Choose or create the category where the account should appear.
  6. Save the account.

Choose or create a category

Categories are groups for accounts. You can use them for goals, brokers, strategies, asset types, or any structure that makes your portfolio easier to review.

Decide whether to track cash

Cash tracking helps when you want deposits, withdrawals, cash balances, or dividend cash to appear alongside your invested positions.

  • Turn cash tracking on when you want the account cash balance to affect your portfolio view.
  • Leave it off when you only want to track positions and transactions for assets.
  • Some account type or platform choices can affect whether cash tracking is available.

What happens next

After saving, the account appears in your portfolio overview. Add a transaction next to create your first position.
